Some Vetus thrusters have a shear pin located under the motor, which is designed to fracture if propeller becomes jammed by debris, thus protecting the gearbox from damage.
On Vetus 45kgf / 50kgf thrusters and early 55kgf thrusters, the shear pin is retained by a lock spring.

Note: our stock of lock springs BP64 (and thus BP198) was the final stock that Vetus had and these are currently available from stock. When the stock of BP64 is exhausted, these will be replaced by BP1025 which is essentially the same product. Our stock of lock spring BP1025 has been sourced to match the original Vetus items, although these are a slightly heavier gauge (2mm rather tan 1.5mm).
